October 11th – 14th

This week we are working on:

  • The letter ‘Oo’. We know the words: robot, ovale, photo, bobo, auto, crocodile, gros. Click the hyperlinks to watch short French videos on YouTube. Teacher tip: turn autoplay off and the subtitles on while watching with your child.
    • Click on Santa to hear the story for this letter. Check out the videos below and the books from Lecture Enfant. Our school has paid for a licence username: llgg1  password: lire2 . You can find practice for letter sounds, sight words and more challenging books as your child progresses in their reading this year and next.
  • In writing, we are composing sentences using our starting words. You can practice writing at home in a small journal or on a whiteboard or make up sentences orally! Take a word like citrouille (pumpkin) for example:
      • C’est une citrouille orange. Il y a trois citrouilles. Voici une citrouille. J’aime les citrouilles. Regarde la grande citrouille. J’ai une petite citrouille. Je vois une citrouille blanche.
  • Come Read With Me has finally arrived! We look forward to seeing parents on Wednesday the 12th. This special event is also the kick off of homework for grade 1s! Oui, les devoirs! Students will be given a Ziploc bag with a duotang and 2 classroom books inside. Homework will only come to school once a week. Wednesday will be the day to remember both library books and homework materials.

Reminders:

  • No school Monday the 10th
  • Picture Day Friday the 14th
  • No school Friday the 21st
